What is the goal of life?
A: To create something that lasts beyond our body.
God wins, always. One day you are going to die. There are no exceptions to this rule. It also creates a value to the days that we are given. What are you going to do with your days, and why is that important?
The purpose of life is to serve others.
The goal of life is to be remembered, to create meaning with our days.
We do not want to be forgotten. We do not want our lives to have no meaning or value. It is why you may have or plan to have children. Or why you paint or have your picture taken. It is why you help others – either at work or outside of work. It is why you write or call or text others. A lot of our behaviors are designed to create memories of ourselves for others, of creating value that extends beyond our physical body.
Striving to be remembered causes us to lead a life that generates and manufactures value. This is important to humans – foundational; an essence of living a good life. That value that we create follows the same basic economic theory of “supply and demand”.
The supply is our time, ability, resources, and prioritization of creating value.
The demand is created by us serving others. There is no demand or value if you live by yourself on a deserted island. All you have is supply. When that second shipwrecked sailor’s row boat hits your island's shore, there is demand. There is a huge potential of demand in front of us. Over 7 billion humans.
Wishing you a life of great value,
Of great supply and demand – of being a “billionaire”,
And of course, hugs too,
David/
